Livelink Wins Crossroads A-List Award
January 7, 1999
Open Text's flagship product, Livelink, has won the Crossroads '99 A-List Award for Web-based Collaborative Knowledge Management for the Enterprise.
The Crossroads Awards, sponsored by Open Systems Advisors (OSA), Inc., distinguish the best new enterprise solutions, with particular focus on solutions that support the complete business process, from the supply chain through the back office, all the way to customer interaction. Livelink was an obvious contender for this award because of its ability to provide an industry-leading integrated system, instantly deployable, out of the box.
Livelink was nominated for the Crossroads A-List because it is interoperable in a multivendor environment consisting of PCs, Unix and traditional systems. Open Text is proud to be recognized as an industry leader in the knowledge management arena," said Dan Latendre, Vice-President, Product Marketing, Open Text Corp. "Our success can be largely attributed to the innovative thinking that makes Livelink a tightly integrated Web-based enterprise solution, allowing us to support cross-functional teams working in multiple locations, for Global 2000 corporations around the world."
Winners are determined after reviewing vendors' products, services, and strategies, then conducting in-depth interviews with experienced customers. To set the research agenda, OSA interviews and surveys several hundred seasoned IT executives OSA trusts for credible assessments of new technology in the enterprise. Working with the Crossroads Decision Makers, they identify the Crossroads Decisions, pivotal technology decision points for business. They invite users and vendors to nominate emerging products and services in these areas.
Crossroads cites the following comment from an Open Text customer: "The high-tech manufacturing, telecom, utilities, and aerospace industries are all undergoing rapid change because of regulatory changes and global competition. They need to be able to respond quickly to the challenge or lose market share. Livelink helps customers with geographically dispersed project teams shorten production cycles and increase competitiveness..."
Imaging and Document Solutions magazine has named Livelink as one of their Products of the Year for 1998
Open Text's Livelink was recognized as Product of the Year, the magazine's most prestigious annual award, in the January issue. Livelink is one of 26 products in the industry to be given this award, and one of just a handful of enterprise products, including IBM's EDMSuite, and Tower Technology's Knowledge Management System, to name a few.
Here's what they had to say about Livelink: "Many products became Web-enabled in 1998, but Livelink 8.0 from Open Text was designed for the Web from the start. It brings document management, workflow, search, project management and collaboration (a very real knowledge-sharing technology) to corporate intranets. The system is easy to use and it's cross-platform on the client side. With no software to install, it quickly scales up at even the largest organizations."
Livelink Wins Editors' Choice Award from Computer Reseller News
June 15, 1998
Livelink has been awarded the Editors Choice distinction by Computer Reseller News (CRN). The Editors Choice award is granted by the CRN test center, with products being judged on both their technical and channel program merits.
Among many technical highlights, CRN notes that Livelink separates itself from the competition by taking a different approach to enterprise document management. Instead of simply managing the documents themselves as did other products reviewed, Livelink focuses on the contents of documents, creating a true knowledge management system. CRN was also impressed by Livelink 8's powerful search engine, and its logical and intuitive interface with customizable icons and drop-down menus.
"The speed at which pages are built in Livelink and the completeness of the information presented are sure to be a boon to the knowledge-management industry." said Eddie Correia, Senior Technical Editor, Computer Reseller News.
